[etni] Re: teachers giving up?

If you think that's bad you should come to Jerusalem. In one
of the schools in which I teach, a member of our staff
rather unprofessionally decided that she was not coming back
to work this year and informed us about 2 weeks ago leaving
us with gaping holes (including Bagrut classes) to fill.
My coordinator told me yesterday that the inspector had
informed her that we had to wait our turn as there were
another FIFTEEN schools looking for teachers.
I myself have been apprached by two schools during the
summer holidays.

I assumed that Jerusalem would be in a better situation due
to the number of Anglo-Saxons that live there. Not so.

The truth is why should anyone in their right minds want to
work in our noble profession at the moment?
Also if English teachers are such a rare and wanted
commodity, why aren't we being paid more for our services?
It's a damn stupid question, I know, but that would be the
case in any other normal field.

Just a thought.
