Our petition, in just over a week has almost 1000 signatures, and has gained
us a story in a paper in Oregon.
The more signatures, the better we stand.
Please send me your personal stories how books have helped your libraries.
Just talk about what the books have meant for your students.
If these are students from economically challenged homes, please state that.
We want to show Congress what the elimnation of this service will do to
people around the world.
I want to put this into a book to give to key politicans in Washington, D.C.
We plan to go to the U.S. Congress July 3rd.
Thanks for your input and for spreading the word about the petition.
Regards, Michael Quint

Subject: save Books for Israel
Hi All,
You may not all be aware of the fact that shipping costs from the US
have jumped sky high; the US Post Office has done away with M-bags which
made shipping cartons of books abroad very reasonable. This move is
deterring many donors as they cannot foot the bill for postage now.
Michael Quint, one of our Books for Israel US coordinators, has written
written and posted a petition in protest of the above. Please read it and
sign if you agree. Books for Israel has helped and continues to help
Israeli schools of all denominations, to build school libraries.
Let me use this opportunity to thank Michael and Susan Heckler,
coordinators, for all their hard and dedicated work.
