Folks, you need a reading comprehension refreshment course. :)
Nowhere in my posting did I say we do not need a union. Of course we
need a union - no doubt about it. All I said was we need a union that
does what WE want it to be doing for us.
I did not say "let's all leave the union so as to destroy it." I said
"let's leave the union so as to make it act on our behalf and make us
want to join it again."
See the difference?
And, no, Motti - you will not see me at Yad Eliyahu. Life is too short.
I do not waste my time on actions that cannot bear fruit. You can all
yell and shout your protests there till you are blue in the face - the
stakeholders won't listen. You can keep writing your petitions till you
run out of ink - no-one will read.
One of the reasons the union is organizing this Yad Eliyahu stunt is
that it gives you an illusion of action - but it does not compromise the
collaborationist position of the union. They are dancing to the tune
played by the Ministry.
It's a game the results of which are known beforehand: the key players
from the union and the government get together; the ministry guys say,
ok, you will start the strike; it will last a week; by the end of the
week we'll agree to freeze the implementation of the most blatant of the
Dovrat recommendations. OK? Let's go guys, nice to be seeing you, thanx
for all the cookies.
Then the Pied Piper starts playing his pipe and you all go to Yad Eliyahu.
Did you have any illusions about it?!
I repeat: cancel your membership. Money speaks louder than words. Take a
class in modernt history to refresh your memory if you think otherwise.
I will be the first one to join the union again - but only when I see
they are listenting to what we have to say and are doing what we want
them to do. (I doubt they will ever want me to join - but that's another
story...)
Lev
