Dear Eve and other interested people,

 

The new training program for English speakers with no teaching certificates
is actually longer than just a few months. This program is offered in a few
select colleges throughout the country, and is aimed at native speakers of
English with an academic degree in any subject or non-native speakers of
English with a BA in English. Suitable candidates will be placed in schools
this coming year, and at the same time start the re-training program offered
by the college. They will be teaching and studying concurrently for
approximately 2 years, at which point they will receive their teaching
certificate in TEFL. Candidates who meet the necessary criteria will receive
a grant from the Ministry of Education paying for part or all of their
studies. For further details call the relevant college in your area (a list
can be found on the English Inspectorate site).
