[etni] more reflection..

Dear All,
I am happy to have started a thread on journals.. however I need to make it
clear that my main objective in having the kids write a reflection journal
is to make them learn to assess themselves, to reflect and to think about
what they have been doing and the part they play in the learning process. MY
objective is not writing.. The writing is the tool not the objective. Yes,
there are other types of journals, and blogs etc.. but again.. what I was
trying to get across to you all is the importance of having our students
learn to think and reflect. The real reason for asking them to write is
that most of them are too shy to express this orally in any language and by
writing they take the time to think . Again I have nothing against
dialogue journals, writing journals, guided writing journals etc.. What I
want to achieve is simple reflection. It is something we teachers need too.
I highly recommend that teachers keep a weekly reflection journal to see
what worked and why , and what may not have worked in class and why.

Good luck.. Aviva
