[etni] joining the ETNI facebook group and privacy

Hi all,

Some of you have asked me about the possible loss of privacy if you join the 
ETNI facebook group. I will try to answer this concern. Those of you on the 
list who know facebook well may correct me if I get anything wrong.

As far as I understand, only people who have a facebook account can see the 
full list of ETNI facebook group members. Even then, unless you specifically 
accept a friend request from someone, that person can only see your name and 
picture (if you have included a picture) and your friend list. They cannot 
see anything more from your personal facebook profile. So you personally 
control what people can see and can't see about you.

Even if someone has joined the ETNI facebook group, they still can only see 
your name, picture and friend list unless you accept a friend request from 
them, if they have sent you one.

You are welcome to join. I believe that the facebook group may significantly 
contribute to the sense of community among Etni members. However, there are 
no plans to have it take away from existing ETNI elements, such as the 
mailing list and web site.
