[etni] graduates taking bagrut

Although I can't give an official answer, since I'm not an official, there
are some general directives which I think would apply to the questions being
asked about graduates who want to take the winter bagrut.

The general directive is "Whatever was true in the summer also holds true
for the following winter." Last summer the instructions were that the class
of 2005 (those who were in 11th grade last year) and below (i.e. younger)
take the new modular bagrut while the class of 2004 and above (i.e. older)
take the old bagrut. I would assume that that holds true for this winter as
well - i.e. that students who have already graduated will take the old
bagrut this winter... the last time it will be offered.

A student who takes the 1 point exam will be able to use it instead of "A"
in the future. That is the only part of the old bagrut that can be combined
with the new modularity. A letter about that went out last year.

I don't know if a student who has graduated has the option of doing modules.
I would suggest that if a graduate would like to begin the modular bagrut at
the 4 or 5 point level this winter, the school write a letter to Vaadat
Charigim for permission to do so - (unless you hear from some other source
that it is permitted.) That way, you can get a confirmation (or denial) in
writing. In the meantime the student can register for the old bagrut, and
you can change the sheilon number through the mateh Bechinot on the day of
the exam if vaadat charigim gives you an affirmative answer.

As far as I know, the registration material for the Winter Bagrut has not
yet arrived in schools - when it does, perhaps there will be other
instructions.

Yours,

Sharon Tzur
