[etni] Re: going rates for translators and editors

Dear Linda,
If you go into the website of the Israel Translator's Association
(www.ita.org.il) under the tab called "Activities" you will find a link to the
ITA's recommended translation and editing rates for professional translators.
On the home page you will also find the "Find a translator" database so you can
contact a person working in the languages / field you need easily.

And while we are on the subject of translation - as I wrote earlier this
summer, the ITA is looking to have more contact with you teachers who teach
translation and your students. I do have a list of schools where it is taught,
but not the names of the teachers. I will be sending out a letter to the
schools and I hope they find their way to the right person! meanwhile - if any
of you are reading this mail, please feel free to contact me at info@xxxxxxxxxx
.

I also understand from Miriam Schlesinger that there are still a few places
left in this year's course on teaching translation - highly recommended as a
way to diversify your skills and work options.

Wishing you all a good school year and, of course, Shana Tova,

Micaela Ziv
(current ITA chairperson)

Subject: [etni] going rates for translators and editors

Can anyone clue me in on what can be considered acceptable rates for paying,
by the hour, translators (100-page book, hebrew to english) and editor (to
review a book and correct grammar, spelling and syntax/format and organization
of the material.)

  thanks
  Linda
