I had the same experience. Out of 34 kids in my 11th grade 5-point
class, 17 got 95 and above. These are mostly pretty good students,
but not THAT good. And in most cases, the grade I gave them wasn't
even close. Only three kids in the class got below 80 and two of
those had failing grades for almost the entire year (one got 69 and
the other got above 70). The third was a borderline-at-best student
(I believe she got 76).
On the other hand, the grades that my 10th grade students got in
module A were very low. I did have two excellent students get good
grades (96 and 97, but these are 5-point students sitting in a 3-point
class because they're very weak in other subjects). Of those who
didn't do LD oral exams, no one else got in the 90s, although I had
some other very good students. There were quite a few failures,
although I have to admit that almost all of the students I expected to
pass did.
The biggest surprise, though, was in F and G. For some reason that I
can't comprehend (and this is after grading both modules F and G and
seeing how kids at other schools did), every single one of my 11th
grade "English speakers" who did both modules in the summer did better
on G than on F.
I have no idea what all of this means, apart from the fact that module
E now appears to be too easy and module A is too hard.
