Subject: ETAI Forum - we need your help!
Hi People,
I am turning to you on behalf of the ETAI Forum editorial team.
We can't do it alone and need the help of all of you
teachers, inspectors, material developers and trainees
to contribute to the Forum. Moreover, we don't want to
do it alone, because we feel that the Forum should
reflect the entire ETAI community.
The ETAI Forum is a place to share knowledge, experience
and ideas. Those of you, who feel a bit reluctant to write,
fearful that what they have to offer isn't good enough, let me
reassure you that there is no such thing! As Oprah once said,
"Everyone has a story," and if I may add, "Every teacher has
what to offer."
Those of you (and hopefully there are only a few), who
regretfully feel that the level of the Forum isn't sophisticated
or academic enough, let me just say - this is your chance to
raise the level. But, let me remind you that while we want to
preserve a high standard, we want the Forum to be teacher
friendly and reflect our work and our lives.
So, we would sincerely appreciate your taking the time to
write something. Anyone, who would like to consult us or
needs help with the editing, no worries - that's precisely why
we are here. Don't hesitate to contact us!
We are trying to establish regular columns: Here are some of them:
ETAI News - updates regarding ETAI activities as well
as conference presentations - that are NOT commercial.
Access to Information / Presentation / Social Interaction
- articles related to the domains, curriculum, benchmarks
- i.e. the four basic language skills:
reading, writing, speaking and listening
Appreciation of Literature and Culture - articles about
literature in general + book recommendations, as well as
suggestions about teaching literature in the classroom.
In addition, it column includes articles about culture
(any culture near or far) that might be of interest to us all.
Assessment - not only Bagrut ... !
ELT in the Digital Age - articles related to IT (information
technologies), in general, and using computers in the
classroom, in particular.
Netsurfing - your favorite websites!
Educational Leadership - Teachers are leaders. Many
leadership attributes come naturally to teachers.
Oftentimes, we take them for granted. How do you
demonstrate leadership in your own classroom?
From the Classroom - This is the place for classroom
teachers to share their work: classroom activities,
their approach to teaching, classroom management
concerns, etc.
Life Beyond the Classroom - Sometimes we need to
remind ourselves that there is a life out there beyond
the classroom. What do you do when you are not
preparing lessons, going to meetings or grading papers?
Tell us about it! Who knows? You might encourage
someone to join a gym or a club; to take up a hobby
or simply take a step out into the real world!
Our Past - This column is about our professional
history - teachers' narratives or trends that used to
be and are no more.
Our Future - This is the place for new teachers or
trainees to share their perceptions, thoughts and
experiences.
Across the Country - We are a dynamic profession
and things are going on in the field in every sector all
over the country. What might seem ordinary to you -
can be extraordinary to others! So, tell us about it!
Across the Globe - Many teachers are affiliated
with international organizations, attend conferences
around the world, and/or are involved in global
activities. If you are one of them or have simply
heard about professional activities from other
countries - share with us.
A New Life after Teaching - This is for those,
who have left the classroom and are busy doing
something new. Your story can be encouraging to
someone - not just interesting. I know that we don't
have an audience as large as Oprah's, but time and
again a guest's story has had significant impact on a viewer.
You Can Make It Happen - We are a dynamic bunch
of professionals. Some of us have really gone far and
have gotten involved in the most amazing and unexpected
projects. Some have won international awards. Some
have taken their teaching beyond the classroom.
The underlying idea of this column is to inspire others
to spread their wings and to fly.
What it means to be a professional - What are your thoughts?
NOTE: Articles can be based on relevant literature or from the field.
