As I wrote that I thought the LC should be dropped from the
bagrut let me clarify myself. I agree with you that listening
comprehension (as well as speaking) is an extremely important
aspect of the language. What I am saying is that LC on the
Bagrut is NOT actually getting a true picture of what many kids
know therefore if it's invalid in my opinion.
Maybe if the questions were more open ended it would be a
more valid test.
Unfortunately we also teach (don't we? ) hours of literature and
poetry and where is this 'tested' on the bagrut ?? I personally test
all my students orally but I doubt that is a popular way today.
I understand. as it's very time consuming. But the listening
comprehension section is still way too problematic.
And I agree that we should be able to trust all the schools to
play a tape/CD twice but unfortunately we don't live in such a
Utopian world.
Don't worry . I am still listening and teaching these skills.
