Most third generation mobile phones now pick up radio
broadcasts, so does anyone know if pupils are allowed to
use them in the listening comprehension part of the exam?
If no decision has yet been made, I strongly recommend
that the chief inspector consider the possibility and issue
a ruling since it would probably reduce to close to zero the
number of cases where pupils are unable to hear the
broadcast for one reason or another. I don't think it would
faciltate cheating by sending SMS messages to friends
because the pupils would be too preoccupied with listening
to the broadcast and they would have to put their phones
away immediately after it ends. Any thoughts?
