I have taken the advice of some of you, and have joined the Histadrut
teacher's union. Unfortunately I am unable to resume teaching because the
teachers in my school belong to the Irgun.

I joined the Histadrut union because I don't want to strike and my
conscience is troubled by students who are wandering the streets instead of
being educated. I also feel that we should sign the Reform, which is what
the educational system needs. Of all the messages on ETNI against the
Reform, I have not seen any that indicated what the Reform is offering. How
about posting the full text of the Reform on ETNI?

From what I can see, members of the Irgun have been sold down the river.
They (I can say 'they' now) have had their expectations raised to ridiculous
levels and are making demands that cannot be met. How will classes be
reduced? - Where are the extra classrooms coming from? There is no way that
teachers' wages will be raised significantly without breaking other work
agreements, thereby causing strikes in all other sectors. Members of the
Irgun have been encouraged to take reckless actions such as signing letters
of resignation that can bounce back and bite if taken seriously. Has nobody
advised you that if you do resign, you will lose various pension rights? It
was irresponsible of the Irgun to encourage its members to climb a tree that
they cannot get down from.

Of course wages will be raised at the end of the strike. But a chunk of this
"raise" will come from the money that was saved by not paying your wages for
the strike period (work out the sums already for 2 weeks!)
