Subject: educative/educational Bryan Garner
First, if English is a subject that holds your attention, and if you care
about its usage, you should not be without Bryan Garner's Garner's Modern
American Usage. He is one of the, if not the, world's foremost expert on
the subject.
As to educational; educative; educatory, he writes:
Educational = (1) having to do with education <educational issues>; or (2)
serving to further education <educational films> . . . .
Educative = tending to educate; instructive <educative lectures>.
Educatory is a NEEDLESS VARIANT of educative.
(type styles are obviously his, pointing to other features/sections or for
the ease of the use of his book)
