Greetings all,
All I know is that in the old days I could predict the marks
my students would get with an uncanny accuracy that amazed my friends.
The accuracy of my magenim was a wonder to behold.
Those days are over.
Telling Example.
Last year I had yud students doing C and D. I advised a handful not
to do D yet, as they were not ready. They did not. I was wrong. They
could have passed the D. (I'm not even going to talk about A as opposed
to B with my weak yud bet that year.)
So this year when these same students were due to do F, I told the
same handful frankly that if I thought I knew what I was talking about,
I would advise them not to do it as they were not ready; but since we
might be lucky again and get an easy bagrut, why not take the chance.
And of course so it turned out, they found the F joyously easy. Terribly
weak students came to me shortly thereafter, "Wow, I looked at the
answers
in the paper and I really did well!!! You were right, teacher!!!"
Lucky we did the E in winter though.
I should not complain, as I look good as a teacher when my students all
pass.
However, I do wonder.
