Announcement:
New Course for Mentor Teachers of English
Southern and South-central Districts
Achva Academic College of Education
Who is eligible to participate? Experienced teachers who have taught at
least three years in the system, present and potential mentors of new
English teachers doing their internship in elementary and secondary schools
and Cooperating English Teachers.
Participants will receive:
- a “gmul” of 112 hours
- a refund of transportation expenses
- two hours weekly pay supplement while taking the course
- tuition free of charge (except for the registration fee)
The course will be conducted in English. Topics to be discussed will
include the Ministry of Education requirements for mentors, the evaluation
forms that all mentors are required to complete, general aspects of
mentoring, such as assistance in lesson planning, classroom management
issues, different models of supervision, observation skills, giving and
receiving feedback, relationships with colleagues, parents and other
agencies, and the role of the English teacher as an educator.
