The Middle East University is a program for teachers from
North Africa and the Middle East which takes place every year
in Boston for a month. The program is a unique opportunity
for teachers to meet, study and share ideas with teachers on
topics such as cultural diversity, critical thinking and conflict mediation.
The program is held on the campus of Boston College.
The teaching faculty are from universities in the Boston area.
The newest pedagogical methods being used in the USA are
presented. All the studies are in English.
In order to be accepted into the program, you must fill in an
application and write two essays. Finalists are interviewed by
the program directors in the early spring.
I was honored to have been able to attend this program last summer.
It is a very professionally run non-profit organization. I met
teachers (not just English teachers) whom I would never have
had a chance to meet and during the program we developed into
a community of learners in spite of all coming from different cultures,
religions and countries.
If anyone has any questions, feel free to write me.
The program is sponsered by donations and the US government.
All participants have to pay something -but according to their means.
Below is the site. Good luck!
