Hi all,
While I appreciate the importance of testing listening
comprehension, the mechanics of pulling it off on the
Bagrut are so complicated and stressful.. there must
be a better way.
In my school, I am "lucky" that we have so many
antennas in the area that it is impossible for us to count
on hearing any radio program. The last few Bagruts we
received special permission to use the tapes for our students...
this still meant that we had to find about 25 tape players..
but other than that small detail,, it works fine.. the proctors
play the tape at the exact time it is on the radio,, and the
students don't even know the difference.
I still have nightmares of past experiences of trying to
locate Rashet Gimmel on the radio..for some reason it is
some kind of a secret that the station doesn't want to reveal,
plus the begging that I had to do to get batteries for the
tape players from my school in case the electricity went
off ( which has happened in the past - I am not just a fatalist).
By the way, most people have CD players and it is getting
harder and harder to get ahold of so many tape players every
year. Lucky for the Dept. of Education that every English
teacher buys one.. (not to mention our recording studios
for the students who get tapes-but that is another story).
Remember when we had to make copies of tapes for our
students for the Bagrut.. That problem was solved..after
much blood, sweat and tears so maybe there is a solution
for this one..?? I for one will be happy to give up the
listening comprehension.
