Subject: Level of bagruts
It's not that the bagrut is getting harder or easier.
It's just different. Different types of students do better
with different types of exams. Overall my pupils have
higher grades in the new system than in the old. I
personally would prefer a much higher level of reading
passages in the G but not such unclear questions.
(A better question would have been: Write the two things
about synesthesia that is still not known to researchers.)
That being said, there are always tricky questions which do
not test English but the ability to understand between the lines.
Most of the students in our school system do not do this very
well in their own native language.
It doesn't really matter which test is easier or harder if the
system worked on a percentile system. I have said this before.
It would be a totally fair test if everyone taking a specific
test in a specific year were graded according to those who take
the same test. that way, you won't have so many students asking
to take the moed b exam when they happen to mess up on a certain
test. that way there won't be an unfair case where someone taking
the bagrut one year gets a lower grade than a better student a
different year. That way there will more reliability in testing.
Will this make the system fair? There is no such thing. However,
it might make the system more fair as a whole.
