Hi English Teachers!
Now -- the beginning of the school year -- is the best time to work a great literature/theater class project into your schedule.

JEST (the Jerusalem English-Speaking Theater) is performing Prairie Lights this year. The play is perfect for students - spirited and fun, accentuated with great music.

This is serious theater, yet there are a lot of children (talented Israeli schoolkids) in the cast, which makes it much more relevant to your students

You can read about Prairie Lights on the Web (search "Prairie Lights" in Google), and even download the first 15 pages or so to learn in class. There is so much relevant material that you can bring into your classroom, including the historical basis about the orphan trains in America in the early 1900s. There is also a moving song you can teach (we have it on CD) about orphan brothers who got separated.

In addition, if you plan to come to the play, JEST has a class set of books we can lend you, we will give you small posters for your classroom, and we can even send an actor or two to your class (if you want) to talk about the play, about theater, about acting, and to show your kids how to act out part of the play. All at no charge.

In this way, your kids will be well prepared for the theater experience, and they can even stay after the show for a special ask-the-actors session.

Be in touch with us now to start arranging for maximum classroom benefit. The performances will probably sell out, judging from recent experience, but if you arrange it early, you can get good seats and a discounted group price.

For information please email JEST at lstoller@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx or call 02-642-0908.

Performances at Jerusalem's Hirsch Theater are: Wednesday, January 17, Thursday, January 18 (2 shows), Tuesday, January 23 (2 shows) and Thursday January 25.
