Check out UPP's WE Love Grammar #3 (Mine is 1994, but they have a new
version). There are 2 units on future (simple and be+going to).
Future simple is used for predictions. It's more definite than the be +
going to. Bring the weather forecast for different places in Israel or the
world - and have them become weather forecasters. Or a fortune teller -
everyone writes a fortune on a piece of paper and you have to guess who they
wrote it for or who wrote it. Or everyone writes what they want to be in the
future without signing it and you have to guess who wrote it.
You use be+going to future for discussing plans - for the spring holidays,
this summer, etc. Elicit verbs from the students - have them make a list of
10 things they plan to do this vacation and whoever finishes first gets a
prize... They can make posters of their travel/holiday plans. They can talk
(for 3 minutes - time them) about their plans. The second speaker can't
mention anything that was the same as the first speaker, and so on.
You could bring flash cards in 3 colors (am, is, are) + going to + verb and
have them work in groups, asking about their friends' vacation plans - and
then reporting back.
I hope I gave you some ideas. You'll just have to organize them into a
lesson/s plan.
Lessons start out with teaching the form, eliciting what they know
(verbs/vocabulary) and then more creative stuff.
