ETAI Spring: Special Guest Speaker

Dr Constant Leung is Senior Lecturer in the Dept of Education and Professional 
Studies, King's College London.   Before taking up teaching positions in higher 
education he taught in schools and worked as advisory teacher and manager in 
local government for over 15 years.  He is Director of two programmes: MA 
English Language Teaching and Applied Linguistics, and Academic Language 
Development (Widening Participation).  His research interests include 
second/additional language curriculum development, language assessment and 
language policy.  He has written and published widely on additional/second 
language education and language assessment issues both nationally and 
internationally.  His most recent work includes: English as a Second Language 
in the Mainstream: Teaching, Learning and Identity (2001, with B. Mohan and C. 
Davison; Longman) Language and Additional/Second Language Issues for School 
Education  (editor, 2002, National Association for Language Development In the  
Curriculum) 'Teacher formative assessment and talk in classroom contexts - 
assessment as discourse and assessment of discourse' in Language Testing 2004 
(with B. Mohan) 'Developing Formative Teacher Assessment: Knowledge, Practice 
and Change' in Language Assessment Quarterly 2004 'Classroom teacher assessment 
of second language development: construct as practice' in E. Hinkel (Ed.), 
Handbook of research in second language  learning and teaching (2005, Lawrence 
Erlbaum)..
