Hi Laurie,
We didn't have electricity at all in school today. The school was
freezing. In addition, half the classrooms were ankle deep in water.
Many of the he kids arrived wet to school. We also were not allowed
to send the kids home until 12 either. This is the policy of the
ministry and not anything against Bedouins. The policy might be
wrong-minded but it is not an example of discrimination.
In the last school I worked in, we didn't have electricity, save
lighting, for about two and a half years. Unfortunately, the
physical conditions of many schools in this country are disgusting and
often unfit for animals, let alone young human beings.
