[etni] bagrut timetable

I?m sure this is not the first time this comment is being made.

The timing of the module exams is a LOGISTIC NIGHTMARE. Theoretically, there
is a half hour between each stage. However, in reality, this is not so. In
the ?regular? rooms, things are bad enough. The first exam rarely begins
exactly on time because of various problems (proctors finding the rooms,
notebooks still being counted out, stickers still being given out, etc.)
Then, there are the students with extra time ? The first exam for them
theoretically ends at 14:35 while students for the next part of the exam are
supposed to be in the rooms at 14:30 (15 minutes before the beginning of the
exam) - five minutes BEFORE the extra time students have finished. In
reality, the exam often begins 5 or 10 minutes late, and the extra time
students need until 14:40 or 14:45 ? exactly when the next group of students
are supposed to begin writing their exam. The result is that the students
are often just starting to enter the room at the hour that the exam is
supposed to begin. So again, the exam begins late.

Moreover, while the poor extra time students are trying to complete their
exams, the halls are full of students who have completed their exam and have
just left the rooms, while another whole bunch of students are entering the
rooms for their exam. Needless to say, this is not a process that takes
place in complete silence. The halls are extremely noisy and it is very
unfair to the students still in the exam (LD students and new immigrants
mind you). Meanwhile, the proctors can?t let the next batch of students into
the rooms, because the extra time students are still there ? the students
who are supposed to go in get nervous, the proctors get nervous, the
teachers get nervous? LD students doing two modules in a row have no break ?
nor do the proctors of the extra time students.

It?s also very difficult in the office where the exams from one session are
being turned in and counted and at the same time, the new exams have to be
counted out and distributed.

The people who make up the timetables don?t seem to take into account the
logistics ? the movement of people into and out of rooms takes time, it
takes time for the office staff to walk from room to room distributing the
papers, it takes time for students to be given their stickers. It takes time
to deal with last minute problems ? such as finding a place for a student
who was left off the lists, whose batteries are not working etc.

I know that the day is long as it is, but there is NO CHOICE but to add AT
LEAST another 15 minutes between exams. Have the first exams begin at 13:00,
the second at 15:00 and the last at 17:00. If that is too late, than the
whole thing should begin at 12:30.

I know this has been brought up before but I really hope that the powers
that be will take note and change the schedule ? already for THIS SUMMER!!
PLEASE!! And for next year as well.

I did note one improvement ? the computer generated stickers for the module
type were printed onto the exams, meaning there was no need to put on the
?exam? sticker. A very good idea.
