[etni] Yes, Ran Erez is referring to BOTH NBA and Lit module issues

I contacted Ran Erez a couple of days ago and asked him if the sanctions were
related to both the NBA issues (THE project, oral bagrut) and the new lit
course. His reply was -yes, both. It appears there have been promises about
settling those issues, but-surprise surprise-nothing has come out of it and now
those issues are officially under dispute. But what will affect our teaching
even more, are the LD sanctions. All high school teachers in the country of all
subjects, have been ordered not to perform any LD related work. That means that
we are not supposed to prepare tapes,or read aloud, test orally etc. We are not
even supposed to grant extra time. This is a result of the fact that the
ministry of finances refuses to honor the agreement it signed concerning our
work with LD students-apparently the same notorious agreement that includes the
sections about a reduction in the number of students per class, and the
commitment to start working on a Oz
Letmura based reform plan, which haven't been honored either. It is sad that
(again)it has come that far. But I think we have no choice here. And it is
essential we stick by those orders collectively, so there'll be no good" or
"bad" teachers. I am convinced that even though those sanctions might seem to
harm the lD students, on the long run the kids WILL benefit if we succeed in
getting the government to honor its agreements. A frustrated teacher is not a
good teacher and anyway, the present conditions we can offer the LD students
are disgraceful. We have no time nor place to attend to them properly.
Therefore, I feel that despite the bitter taste the strike left us all with,
this is a cause worth fighting for. The way things look, we might well reach
the conclusion that it is more effective to fight our little battles one by
one-"nekudatit", instead of waging a "world war" and ending up with nothing but
endless lists of hours to return.
