There were rumors that my psych teacher at Stern used that method, and his 
lessons were so much fun..

But seriously (not that my first line was a lie) when I explain the advantages 
of rubrics, that's the comparisan I use.  Too many students can't figure out 
why they got such awful marks and may suspect the stair method.  With rubrics 
our demands and standards are clear.
