Dear Ethnians,
The late Arthur Miller was surprised by the fact that Israeli students
studied his play, ?All My Sons?. He was visiting Israel at the time and was
given this information by a reporter sent to interview him on the occasion
of the Israeli revival of his play. Intrigued, Mr. Miller asked the reporter
why of all his plays the MOE had chosen this one, when some of his other
plays seemed more appropriate for Israeli society. The reporter gave the
standard answer ? war, MIAs, grieving families, etc.
I came across this article in the NY Times and found it to be an interesting
review of a novel take on the play. If you are still teaching ?All My
Sons?, you might want to email this link to your students and discuss the
review in class. I have found that articles like this one always help to
jump start my students? imaginations.
