Students at Connellsville Junior High West have discovered a secret that is spreading throughout the school -- reading is fun. Making its debut at the school is the accelerated reader program that is helping to encourage students to read.
With a point-awarding system, students find themselves not only reading more, but reading books that are more difficult, says the school's librarian.
"I am very pleased with the overall response from teachers and the students to the program," said librarian Chris Wallander. "I think that for some of the students, they are realizing for the first time that they like to read."
