Subject: The Knowledge Connection
Hi All,
The article Michele passed on was certainly worth the read and confirms
my
own thoughts on testing reading comprehension. Sadly, too many teachers
find
themselves pushed into the corner to teach module this or that rather than
English! Too many teachers forgo true textbooks, literature, etc, for
modular practice books only. I keep reminding the teachers I work with
that
by teaching English, reading literature with pupils, reading newspaper
articles and discussing current events, etc., the kids will really learn
and then succeed in their exams. Endless Bagrut practice work without real
language study is a waste of time!
