Hello!
Our school is opening an Ometz class in the ninth grade this
year. Another teacher and I will be teaching it. Is there
anyone out there who has taught in this type of class
already? Please, please, please contact me. Also, if you
have taught, do you have any of the materials you used? The
explanatory meeting was this week and we now know that we
have to develop and run off all our materials. The first 50
hours is dictionary work. We have already worked on the
first couple of lessons but we would really like to get
anything that is ready that people have had experience with
to help us along.
For those of you who are wondering, Ometz is a special
class of 30 kids with the greatest number of failures in the
entire grade level. They are broken up into two groups of
15 to get through 9th grade and hopefully into HS. For a
change, the ministry is doing something right.
Unfortunately, if funds were invested in younger grades for
much smaller classes with more resources (human and
otherwise) I'm sure that programs like this would be
unnecessary.
Thanks!
Michele
