Call me a "friarit" or a strike breaker, but I do not agree that LD pupils
should be penalized due to our work dispute. I personally know from my nieces
what tremendous difficulties an LD pupil has, not only learning issues, but
issues with self-image; social problems; etc.
At present I am on early pension and teach only 9th and 10th grades, the eight
hours I am allowed to teach. I WILL test orally (regular tests) my LD pupils
and do what ever I must to make their load a little easier to carry. They have
more than enough to deal with without us making it harder for them. (I mean the
REAL LD pupils; not those who purchased hatamot for 1,700 shekels.)
YES we should be compensated for tracking down walkmans; making cassettes;
testing orally; etc. However I do NOT have the heart to make pupils already
dealing with such challenges as those mentioned above suffer because of a
monetary dispute between the Irgun and the Ministry. I don't believe
that teachers with LD children at home, (or members of his/ her close
family) would say aloud anything different unless they're afraid to speak out,
which I am not. (This is why I opposed in the past publishing anonymous
e-mails.)
The other sanctions I recognize as legitimate, but not this one.
