Dear All,
I am NOT getting into this discussion and I am NOT writing to be defensive,
(especially not when "anonymous" writes) however, I could not let this go by
without stating that the recommended link here - while interesting and
worthy in its own right, is only a very small part of what our program is
about. Posting it, as if it is even a vaguely viable alternative option for
learning the teaching theories that are presented and taught in the HOTS
course, for what we are trying to get our learners to do, is a terrible
disservice.
On a personal note, I was honored to be invited to speak. I am always
pleased and impressed with the facilities at the Beer Sheva Pisga, and I
appreciate all of the positive feedback I have received from my colleagues.
I appreciate that the audience were tired after a long day of teaching, and
we are ALL run ragged at this time of year - ESPECIALLY in light of the
repercussions of the strike.
And with that, I bid you all a peaceful weekend.
Adele

I also did not find the conference enlightening. It is insulting to have
someone read you their power presentation. When my pupils do this, they are
stopped after a few minutes and told to go home and prepare themselves
better.
I am currently taking a CAT course, and have been studying HOTs and LOTs
since January. As my CAT course is online, I have been applying the
strategies in various tasks that I have been submitting to my teacher. We
have also read some excellent tutorials which I have shared with my
colleagues, such as the following:

I think that a conference is an excellent idea, and wish that the format had
been different. The format of the ETAI conference in Beer Sheva is a good
example. There is time to network with our colleagues from other schools,
who we don't often get a chance to see. I met many English teachers, and
listened to what they had to say. The workshops were small and intimate
with a lot of participation. For me, this is the best way to learn.
Activate us, put us in small groups with a moderator, and give us a chance
to meet the English teachers from different schools, compare our teaching
techniques, and get new ideas.
