Going where no student has gone before

On one of the enrichment days during the last school year, an unusual
visitor was invited to the Tel Aviv's Ironi A. school. Flashing a smile of
gold-capped teeth and sporting golden chains around his waist, Cottage (Adam
Behor), a rap musician and owner of the No-Logo used clothing store, stood
before the students.
Cottage lectured the 10th-graders on the struggle against the consumer and
brand-name culture, one of a series of lectures and workshops offered
through the year.
New subjects are slowly being introduced into high schools, going beyond the
traditional curriculum. The enrichment hours in students' schedules and
courses that are extra-curricular in the late afternoons include shiatsu
(Japanese massage), meditation, yoga and the Brazilian martial art capoeira.
