---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: byk <byk@xxxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: Dispensations I have just been told by the mother of a ninth grade student in a school in Givataim that it is not their policy to honour the dispensation that the student has. She had just returned from a parent/teacher meeting, and had raised the point about an upcoming exam Now I know that dispensations are being handed out indiscrimately, and perhaps this is the way the school sees fit to weed out those students who don't need them. However, this student is a hard-working boy, whose reading is way below his very good knowledge of English. He is constantly being told that he must improve his grade, but how can he when he really needs to be read to? This is particularly true for grammar excercises, though his grammar, and even his attention to spelling rules is fine. What is the legal standpoint on this question? Does a school have the right to do this?
