ONE OF MY ADVANCED STUDENTS E-MAILED ME THE FOLLOWING AFTER THE MATRIC EXAM:
HE MADE SOME INTERESTING OBSERVATIONS THAT I WOULD LIKE TO SHARE WITH YOU.
"Module F was the hardest of them all... The unseen was a little tricky and
I had a lot of erasures in my formal letter. Module E was quite easy, except
I got really bored waiting for the listening comprehension after I'd
finished the unseen (I was so bored I started reading the instructions in
Arabic... I even tried to guess what the answers to the listening
comprehension would be... Got them all right even before listening, by the
way, which proves just how predictable these tests are).
Module G was the easiest... The unseen part was a piece of cake. The
composition went really smoothly, I didn't have to correct myself, not even
once, and I used a lot of 'petrozilia', even kinds you didn't teach us (For
example, I used the word "hence").
I think the Bagrut writers don't know English themselves - They don't know
the ABC correctly... F was tough, E was easier, and G was the easiest."
I am curious to know if the testers/graders think the same way. Phyllis
