Subject: retraining course
The retraining course is a complete waste of time, effort and is impossible
to register for and complete because the hours, times and duration make life
impossible particularly for those of us who work. As for the allegations or
confusion with other retraining course world wide I can only speak about the
Canadian experience. There are no lengthy retraining courses there. If you
have a valid teaching license and a university education degree from a
recognised university then you may be required to take a course on Canadian
teaching methodology, history of Canadian education, and become familiar
with the course material and English literature. There are no additional
courses on subjects you won't be teaching. The reason the ministry makes
these stupid demands is because Israeli born students in theory learn these
additional subjects in school. You can btw get exemptions from some of the
courses but then they tack on additional requirements.
My assessment is that this sheer nonesense. The whole process of recognising
teacher certification for new olim is illogical and disrespectful to
qualified teachers. Our licenses should be automatic and retroactive if we
have the qualifications.
