As a former special ed teacher in America (now an English teacher),
I will address your comments. It is appropriate for a general ed
teacher to fill out a check list or brief evaluation of the student's
behavior and academic performance in his or her classroom.
However, reading the psychological evaluation (didactic evaluation)
and test results should be done jointly with a school psychologist
and the special education consultant. In America, what they are
asking you to do is not even be legal - parents could sue!
Good Luck,
Leah

Today at our English Staff meeting, we were informed that from now on we,
only we, will be in charge of the destiny of students with accommodations.
Although this went into effect last year, the advisor took care of all the
accommodations and now won't be doing it anymore.
We were told that we had to read each students didactic evaluation and
then fill in many, many pages reporting our opinion based on the students
work in class.
I am still astounded by this announcement and I think it is just unheard
of that we are being forced to do something that has nothing whatsoever to
do with our profession and demands so much of our very valuable time,
which we don't have ( I might add). I was wondering what you are doing
about this, if anything? If not, then don't you think that something
should be done to stop it?
I do not see myself recommending or filling in papers on any student. I
can't do something that I am not qualified for.
