You are missing something here. English is the only school subject in which
"interni" students are required to do tasks which are not related at all to
their Bagrut Exams. All the book tasks and literature, for example. If they
do their exam externally they don't even have to do a project or be tested
orally (as far as I know). So the lazy ones are better off with an external
exam.

That is completely true. However, consider this - if people want to opt
for that, let them and don't be angry - I did the same thing with math
with no disprespect intended, I just couldn't/wouldn't handle it during
school-years; I did absolutely nothing for 12 years and then concentrated
for 3 and a half months and successfully passed.
Because I believe all of the exams themselves can be passed externally,
independetly and quite easily, I tend to either not teach FOR the bagrut,
or if I do - I make sure the kids know that I teach English, not
Bagrut-passing as a subject. If I'm comfortable with that they become
comfortable with that and either do the work (which most of them do) or
not - their choice.
I think your anger stems from the general pressure and year long fact that
we are a "Beit Charoshet Letzionim", but don't forget that we as human
beings always complain about that - so, let's change it - make it about
English and knwoledge and not about grades and Bagrut...
How about it?!

I don't know if any of you have faced this problem or have been disturbed
by this particular situation.. I was recently approached by a few 11th gr.
students who have done nothing all year (including a project) and now
"demand" a decent yearly grade and claim they will sign up for any of the
modules that they please... when I told them that they don't have a yearly
grade for any module..and I sent letters home all year..and
called.etc,etc..
their parents said they would complain about me to Judy Steiner.... of
course, they are more than welcome as far as I'm concerned !!! Their
rachezet told them the same thing ....at they have no yearly grade..so
they
got off "my case" and dropped English all together..taking a few friends
with..claiming they don't need me or the yearly grade....and they will do
ENglish as soon as they graduate.."externi" exams without all the work..in
any case they will get the same exam mark and final results WITHOUT the
effort of booktasks, literature and projects.... One of their homeroom
teachers told me privately that if this is so then she's surprised more
kids
don't take this option...minimum hassle for the same results!!!! Is
this
true??? If so..just another example of why teachers look stupid in the
eyes of the public !!!!
