Hi Judy,

And when exactly do your kids intend to do the external exam? I always explain to mine that yes - they can do it that way. However, they will probably have no time before the army to take the exam since they can't register for it until after they leave school; and by the time they leave they army they will need private lessons in order to practice all the exam techniques that they have by now forgotten. And so instead of taking time out after the army and travelling or enjoying themselves, they will have to sit down and study. Furthermore, if they don't bother to study, the mark they will receive will probably be much lower than the one they would have received if they had done the exam during school time. What a waste of time and effort on their part?

Chug Sameach to everyone,
Enjoy life,
Patricia

I don't know if any of you have faced this problem or have been disturbed
by this particular situation.. I was recently approached by a few 11th gr.
students who have done nothing all year (including a project) and now
"demand" a decent yearly grade and claim they will sign up for any of the
modules that they please... when I told them that they don't have a yearly
grade for any module..and I sent letters home all year..and
called.etc,etc..
their parents said they would complain about me to Judy Steiner.... of
course, they are more than welcome as far as I'm concerned !!! Their
rachezet told them the same thing ....at they have no yearly grade..so they
got off "my case" and dropped English all together..taking a few friends
with..claiming they don't need me or the yearly grade....and they will do
ENglish as soon as they graduate.."externi" exams without all the work..in
any case they will get the same exam mark and final results WITHOUT the
effort of booktasks, literature and projects.... One of their homeroom
teachers told me privately that if this is so then she's surprised more
kids
don't take this option...minimum hassle for the same results!!!! Is this
true??? If so..just another example of why teachers look stupid in the eyes
of the public !!!!
