Subject: retraining course for Olim
The problems with the retraining course are many -- regardless of what is
done in other countries/states or professions:
a) one must take the course - not just take a test at the end - why?
b) The course is given during a working day - why not as an evening
course - even twice a week, but certainly the participants need to work and
this is costly and detrimental to their absorption
c) Much of the course is not related to teaching but to becoming a
new immigrant and learning Hebrew literature, Tanach -- all well and good,
but I am curious if immigrant lawyers, accountants, physicians etc.. must
also study Bialik or know what "Brit be-Habetarim is?
