Regarding Bagrut Marking- Nathan Singer's comment is very interesting.
It seems to me that the marking scale can be interpreted rather freely and
subjectively.
If you look at the scale for the written assignments there are expressions
such as " "occasional errors" and "few errors". How many are few? how many
are occasional??
Surely these are open to individual interpretation. Similarly I believe that
on the open-ended answers there can be wild disagreements between native
speakers on what is acceptable. These things never occurred in the old days
when we knew if a cloze or rewrite answer was correct or not.
Sorry to sound like an old fogey but the NBA is a lot of trouble for us as
teachers, and frequently makes us look unprofessional.Nathan has pointed out
yet another instance of this.

I took it upon myself to go over some of the tests for the appeal
process. I was surprised to find mistakes of 15 and 20 points.
A student who got 66 should have received 82 under the most strict
marker and that's just one example.
Somebody really dropped the ball here. Coordinators, you might want to
have a look at your returned tests.
