Subject: Re: [etni] [FWD: free books]
The books I had to offer recently were simply paperbacks collected by a
friend of mine over the years who had his house painted and did some spring
cleaning and wanted to get rid of the books; the local library here didn't
want them.
The large amount of responses I got (47 in less than a day) underscores the
apparent drastic need for books for leisure reading in high schools here.
So there's a huge need for books; how do we get them?
I know there were some projects to collect books but don't know more than
that and apparently, many others don't know either.
The question, then, is how do we collect used fiction and non books (the
interesting ones that kids will enjoy) to be given out to interested
schools?
There has to be a way for a nationwide English teachers' drive for
books...just have to figure out how.
Anyone out there have any ideas?
