Is anybody listeNing?
Is it worth it to read the 'Listening ' Questions before hearing the text? Of
course!
Anyone who has been at the tail end of a police or Shabbak interrogation knows
that you can learn what the other guys
know by the questions they asking you.
Try doing an LC with a class WITHOUT even listening: Some of them are so
poorly built that you can guess almost all the answers using the info gleaned
from the questions.
By the way, I never tire of hearing nightmare stories about classes that were
prepared for bagrut by a teacher who did not know the
rules or the new requirements. A whole school was sent to the New Bagr 2 years
ago, but the pupils were prepared for the old one.
Testers showed up recently to test the Orals with cue cards and lit questions.
A class of 'shmeeah mekallettet' was told they wouldn't have to do the
listening comprehension. ( If you have access to an electronic dictionary, how
can you be expected to
do the listening when you can't see which words to look up.)
I kid you not.
Of course, I once taught a whole Makzoor that English is written from right to
left.
