We had this whole discussion on Etni last year.
When nobody is listening to to poor, the homeless, the people who protest about 101 social issues in this country (family murders, sexual offences, corruption in politics, environmental issues to name just a few) why would anybody listen to a bunch of "freierim: who have no political or financial clout ....
Off to school to earn my pittance now..

appeared in the Jerusalem Post last week (on page 6!) citing
various educational system comparisons.  I'm sorry I can't find
the article online.  But essentially, Israel ranked very low for
teachers' salaries but this does not seem a valid comparison
because Israel generally may have very low salaries (the other
countries were not listed).  Israel ranked very low in percentage
of students in higher education but how were all those students
in "tertiary level" yeshivot counted.  But I couldnt think of any
reason to question the class size comparisons.  Our class size
comparison was abysmal.  Why aren't we shouting from the
rooftops (or from in front of the Knesset)?
