The Collins English Dictionary - the big (biggest?) one, about A4
size, very thick, hard cover, British but with lots of American and
Canadian material, full of modern terms, technology, slang, foreign
imports (from Hebrew, Hindi, Arabic, etc), phonetic symbols. I've
been enthralled with it for about 6 years and am still amazed by how
much information it contains. Check it out ... and ask for a mortgage
from your bank manager, unless you go to UK and find it on sale.
I paid 12 pounds sterling in 1999 and that was about half price. Good luck.
