Dear Avi,
With all due respect, again, you don't seem to understand. I have already
spoken to the (friendly) English Inspectorate. My two education degrees have
been recognized and I have more than enough courses to meet the teaching
requirements, and probably more than many native Israeli licensed English
teachers.. No matter what my credentials, the courses for new olim that I
listed are mandatory for us to get a license.
You are right that English teachers need to be able to converse in Hebrew in
general. That makes my argument for advanced Hebrew ulpan for teachers even
more compelling. If the English Inspectorate cares about this issue, why are
there no ulpan courses offered specifically for new olim English teachers?
This would be a more valuable use of our time than a course in beginning
Judaism. In any event, all required courses should be offered ONE DAY A WEEK
so that we can arrange a day off from our jobs to take the courses. This is
a NO BRAINER. Please address this point!
Thank you,
Leah
