I believe it is the difference between generalities and specifics. Human
rights, animal rights, people rights, etc... are generalities. General
rights of this huge group of "people", "animals", humans, etc...
But when referring to the specific group of "women" ONLY, or "men" ONLY or
"dogs" ONLY, etc... then it makes sense...
Apply this to other types of rights and see if it fits! I'd like to know if
it does!!
This is definitely a semiotic issue and a wonderful topic for a university
study!! Go for it!
