Subject: RE: A question about projects
Hi, Rana,
Although none of my students have written a project on handicapped people I
would like to share an idea with you:
First, you can ask the students as part f the project to find information
about the specific issue they want to write about: blindness, hearing
disability, etc.
Second, you can require, as part of the project, that they find someone with
such a disability and interview him/her (There also the possibility of
writing an imaginary interview). This way they will have to review the
grammatical aspect of asking questions.
Third, they can visit an institute who works with disabled people and learn
first hand what they are interested in.
And last before least, I personally, would not limit my students what they
want to write about but rather offer suggestions on the one hand, while on
the other hand write instructions so that they will lead them towards a
genuine interesting paper,
Good luck,
Shoshana

them they have to focus on a very narrow topic, and choose one aspect of
handicap. I suggested taking a celebrity who is/ was handicaped and research
his life and contribution to society. However, they say they want to
research handicap in general with referance to handicaped people's feelings
towards their society and family, and the way society deal with these
people.
My response was that it would be too complicated for them and that this
topic is too wide. I wasn't sure how to direct them into narrowing down
their topic. Does anyone have any suggestions for a project in this field of
interest? Did anyone's students do something around this topic?
