Subject: my apologies
To Sharon and Sara, (and anyone else who took offense at my words):
I want to apologize for offending you both regarding my agreement with Dov
Bloom's remarks on projects. Here in Netivot although we're a small city of
about 30,000 almost all the h.s. teachers know one another and keep in
touch. AND all of us do projects in grade 10. Hence I mistakenly assumed
that this was par for the course throughout the country. (Some teachers of 5
pointers do an additional one in 11th or 12th grade, but everyone does one
in 10th grade.)
I had no intention of "putting down" anyone who due to last year's strike
refrained from doing projects. Last year, although a histadrut memeber, I
downloaded a petition and had many folks sign it then forwarded it to the
Irgun. I also wrote Knesset members. My criticism was intended for the lazy
teachers who we all know do exist out there. I would venture to guess that
these teachers usually do not post on ETNI .
These "silent" ones are the same teachers I've heard muttering quietly to
colleagues at in-service courses (not knowing that they are being
overheard,) "Come on! Who the $#%^&* teaches literature anyway????"
Mea culpa for assuming everyone does things the way my colleagues and I do
in Netivot. So, if you were offended, once again I apologize! (And, I
apologize to ETNI readers who've had to read too many of my posts of late:)
Shabbat Shalom-
