Subject: more differences in word usage
Hi everyone,
Food for thought!
Below is an email I've just sent to Judy and Judy. I'd love your comments.
Enjoy life,
Patricia
Dear Judy and Judy,
After having watched your great video on how to mark writing for five points
I have a query for Judy Kramer. At one point in the video she mentions that
a student used the connector "Second" instead of "Secondly". It is true
that American English uses the latter; however British English prefers the
former. See http://www.reading.org/styleguide/alpha_stu.html and
http://www.english-test.net/forum/ftopic6409.html In light of the
differences on both sides of the Atlantic would it be possible for markers
to be allowed to accept both forms?
Many thanks, Patricia
